Gran Turismo HD Concept
. SONY SCE and Polyphonic Digital have said that the next Gran Turismo that we see will Gran Turismo HD Concept. This will not be a full game (groan) but will instead be a downloadable game available at the Playstation Store online for FREE (cheer).
This looks very much like being a filler to wet our appetite in preparation for the full game, Gran Turismo 5, which is in development but will probably only be finished in early 2008, maybe late 2007 if we are fortunate.
There will be one track with two different layouts to race a choice of 10 cars on. There will initialy be 2 racing modes; Drift Trial mode and a Time Attack mode which will have a Network Leaderboard. |

The intention will be to add further cars and tracks throughout 2007 building up to GT5 which will of course have everything in place and a much advanced Online section with cars, tracks , liveries , online racing, community meeting areas and Leaderboards. It is likely that some of these extra goodies will be a cost extra, particularly the cars.
The game will be available for download at the end of 2006 in Japan and the USA should follow behind that. Europe will probably have access on launch with hopefully a lot more functionality.
The future GT5 game is expected to have different ability levels and even differing levels of 'damage'.
One exciting development is the official sign up of Ferrari. This will allow the current line up of Ferrari models to feature in the game. |
